TheSurfNetwork.Com Launches Offering On-Demand Access to Surf Flicks via the Web

SOLANA BEACH, CALIF. (July 16, 2007) -- Opper Sports Productions announced today the official launch of TheSurfNetwork.com, the most comprehensive surfing video download site on the web. With TheSurfNetwork.com over 200 television shows and surf movies, including contemporary and cult classics, can be downloaded directly into iTunes for as little as $2.99 and $3.99 for TV shows and $9.99 for movies. The downloads are encoded using the high quality H.264 MPEG-4 codec, making them cross platform compatible with PCs, Macs, iPods, Apple TVs, iPhones, and even Sony PSPs and XBox 360s.

"Surfing has its own music, clothing, language and now we have our own Network," said Ira Opper, President, Opper Sports Productions, "By utilizing the web as a delivery system, we can offer high quality video downloads of surf films and television shows to a passionate audience."

Now available on TheSurfNetwork.com are multiple television series' including: FiNS a contemporary insightful look at the sport; The Surfers Journal, which features biographies of the great surfers, filmmakers, and waves; Long Board TV, the magazine format series about surfboards over 9 feet in length; and Surfer Magazine Classics that unlock the archives of the neon 80's.

Over 100 hand picked films from the great filmmaker's libraries such as Bruce Brown's "The Endless Summer," Hal Jepsen's "Super Sessions," Greg MacGillivray's "Five Summer Stories," Steve Soderberg's "Ticket To Ride," Scott Dittrich's "Amazing Surf Stories," Ryan Ray's "A Fist Full Of Barrels," Greg Huglin's "Shark Park," and other contemporary and classic films can also be purchased on TheSurfNetwork.com.

Unlike other VOD sites that rent content for a limited time, with TheSurfNetwork.com, once titles are purchased, content remains in ones personal iTunes library forever and can be watched as many times as desired.

"There's a ton of great surf media out there but not a lot of great ways for producers to distribute and monetize their content," said Dustin Hood, Vice President of Internet Development. "Building the site from the ground up and connecting our downloads to the iTunes interface has given us the opportunity to provide our customers with a huge variety of content wrapped inside a familiar, simple and very easy to use service."
